About the role:

We are looking for a student to support the Liability Centre for 2-3 days per week, from February to July 2017.

The main responsibilities of the temporary assignment will be:
- Act as project lead for project LIGHT: LIGHT is an interactive knowledge exchange platform focused on distributing information about risks in liability (re-)insurance that are affecting Swiss Re's underwriting decisions. Key task will be to lead the development of the project from a prototype to the next phase, by developing clear plans that can be executed effectively, taking into account stakeholder input, IT requirements and your own innovative ideas.
- Perform a quantitative analysis on insurance market data to monitor developments, identify trends and gain superior insights. Preparation, aggregation and manipulation of the data from a variety of internal and external sources (including company financial and credit risk information, statutory annual statements, etc.) requires a high degree of "data-savviness" and a flair for financial information.
- Other tasks in the many areas where the Liability Centre operates, depending on candidate's background and interests.

About the team:

The Liability Centre leads key liability topics on a global basis and boost the generation of new and innovative ideas and risk transfer solutions. It is within the mandate of the Liability Centre to be at the forefront of liability understanding and to drive proactive management of the threats and opportunities that emerge.

About You:

- Bachelor or Master student, strong academic performance in a quantitative discipline (natural sciences, applied mathematics / statistics, business administration, economics, engineering)
- Demonstrated proficiency in research, knack for handling data
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Strong analytical & conceptual skills, hands-on experience in analytics is a plus
- Experience with statistical computing languages (R, python, etc) is a plus
